It's a long post but worth the read!
Some of you may know that Trish and I have a son who has Cerebral Palsy.
Wynter is 11 years old and our super hero but he is heading towards another big operation to enable him to have a better quality of life.
A few months ago we discovered the fantastic charity CYCALL Adapted Cycling who have the most amazing disability bikes that people of all abilities can use for free.
For Wynter to have his operation, he needs to build up his leg muscles and what could be more fun and perfect for his needs than riding a disability bicycle around Brooklands. We tried it, we loved it and loved the amazing people, Martine and Rob, who run it.
Shortly after that, CYCALL put a shout out for challengers to raise vital funds for them on their Facebook page and I couldn't not answer their call!
So after a very excitable conversation with the family and a phone call to our very dear friend Kate Henwood from Kate Henwood Photography (who is always up for daft ideas and challenges with us) the idea to cycle a marathon around the Brooklands bike track was born, organised and now taking shape.
Wynter, Kate and Trish are registered disabled and I have a 7ft bicycle and a 36 inch unicycle.
Oh yes all four of us are going to cycle a marathon together, that's about 100 laps of the track each!
Thank you CYCALL for loaning us your amazing bikes to make this possible.
This fundraising challenge is about real people, with real life challenges, pulling together to help build Wynter's leg strength before and after his operation, to aid the charity CYCALL to keep providing such a vital community activity and because of a passion for an all inclusive world where everyone can only see the ability, not the disability.
Next week our event page and just giving page will go live with full details of our exciting adventure. As well as details about who we all are and the challenges we face as individuals and as a team, full details about CYCALL and regular updates and photos of our training sessions and more.
Please watch out for it, share it, sponsor us if you can and come along on the day to cheer us on!
The date is approaching fast and we’re making preparations. Don’t miss out!
